Jerry also works with web designers and video producers; and does photo touch-up when the need arises.

Cartoon

In addition to design, Jerry Barrett, is an award winning cartoonist, whose work has been seen nationwide, such as the cartoon mascot/logo in the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant program, Disposal of Unwanted Medicine and the Silver medal winning educational website: Kalani–Fun with Weather. In addition to freelance work, Jerry Barrett also writes, illustrates, and publishes his own line of children’s picture books via his publishing company, Sunnycrest Press (http://www.sunnycrestpress.com/). Personal

Raised on a small farm in East Central Illinois, he received his Associate of Science Degree from Danville Junior College, Danville, IL and his BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduation Jerry was hired as a graphic designer with the Communications Department at the University of Illinois College of Agriculture—later the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences. There, Jerry gained experience with a wide range of media, as well as the chance to interact with all different clientele in a variety of situations. Which helped him as he went off on his own as a freelance designer.

Jerry left the University of Illinois to start his own freelance firm, Jerry Barrett Designs in Urbana. However a career opportunity at the University of Illinois Springfield for Jerry’s wife, Nancy, led the family and consequently the business to the heart of Abraham Lincoln Country.  It has been a good fit and an interesting time to live in such an historic city.
